ADVICE FOR LOCATING MISSING PERSONS

1) GO TO THE CITY HALL (Sala Klang) in PHUKET TOWN
Here are:
• lists of hospitalised people, missing people and officially deceased.
• representatives of most embassies (see attached list)
• food and free transport
• translators
2)GO TO THE HOSPITAL INFORMATION DESK located on the front lawn . Here there are volounteers who will go through the lists of ALL the hospitals where victims were taken.

IF THEY ARE FOUND you will get free transport to the hospital where you will be able to learn details of their condition.
Also here are lists of resorts where survivors went after the disaster.

IF YOU STILL DON’T FIND THE PERSON YOU ARE LOOKING FOR THEN:
3)The volunteers will then help you fill in a missing persons form and take you to your embassy representative

4)Make a missing persons sheet with a photograph and details and post it on the board. Check for found people as well.

5)Check the websites:
www.disaster.go.th ,www.hospital.moph.go.th/phanga , www.hospital.moph.go.th/takuapa ,www.vachiraphuket.go.th
www.phukethospital.com, www.phuketitcity.com ,www.antalys.net/missing

6)You may want to post missing persons leaflets at key sites. Free transport is available from the CITY HALL.

7) Friends and relatives should not go to the temples (wats) unless there is already a match. They should not go to try and find a body themselves as this will be impossible and unnecessarily traumatising.(bodies from the disaster are no longer recognisable). It may also hamper the efforts of the forensic teams.
It has been said that photographs of deceased and belongings etc from the temples will be posted separately on a website. Forensic testing incl Dental and DNA is said to be underway.
